My Ethernet connection kept micro-stuttering until I turned off a “green” Ethernet feature

I’ve always believed my Ethernet connection was rock-solid, so I assumed my router, or ISP, was at fault when the connection began stuttering in split-second bursts. In the end, it was a power-saving feature built into the Ethernet adapter itself that was causing the problem. The stuttering completely disappeared the moment I switched it off.
